Brett was originally going to be the light man for the L.A. Brats (Scott, Sandy & me - pre Mechanics). He could play guitar, so he bought a Rickenbacker 4001 bass & we had a bass player. Can’t remember the reason, but he wasn’t with us at the beginning of The Mechanics. Rick Agnew auditioned, Scott Kohler was chosen (before we had the name Mechanics), he bailed, and Brett came back. He played about 14 gigs with The Mechanics, then left to play music with his brothers and finally become the legendary Malibu Burt.
